There’s science behind dance too. That is why we are closing our science festival with some choreographed dancing. The dance students from the Royal Conservetoire of the Artesis Plantijn University College Antwerp will treat you to a stunning performance. They were inspired by dance fragments from the choreography of Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui for de opera Satyagraha by Philip Glass and the performance In Spite of Wishing and Wanting by Wim Vandekeybus.
Using the life of Ghandi as an example, Satyagraha looks at how people can change history with their actions. Music, singing and movement are seamlessly blended. In In Spite of Wishing and Wanting, the dancers move between dream and reality, the physical and the magical, the wild and the elegant all to music by David Byrne.
